Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth typed into one of the search boxes goes straight to the outside provider that runs the search. That company processes the entry and returns a result. We do not keep or log the terms you type.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you send an email, we hold onto the message so we can write back. It stays with us. Nobody outside this site sees it unless a law requires that we hand it over.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page loads, the server records a few technical details about the visit:
- The IP address your device used
- The browser and version you were on
- Your device type and operating system
- Which pages you opened and how long you stayed
- The site that referred you, when there is one
- The time of each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on your device. They let us see which pages draw the most readers and where people leave. Analytics services pull that traffic into aggregate numbers. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any point. Parts of the site may behave differently when you do.
What We Do With This Data
The small amount we collect gets used for a short list of purposes:
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Passing your search to the provider that handles it
- Learning which pages are useful and which need work
- Finding and fixing technical faults
- Showing ads that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site keeps no warrant database. We do not host, compile, or sell records about people, and we do not assemble consumer reports about anyone. Crow Wing County warrant records sit with the offices that create and hold them: Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd, the Sheriff's Office, and the County Attorney. We publish general guidance about where those records live and how to request them.
We are also not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Nothing gathered from visitors is assembled into a report about a third party, and no visitor detail is sold or packaged for anyone else.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes here belong to outside companies. Whatever you type into one is handled under that company's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners set their own retention and sharing rules, and we cannot change them. Read a partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link out to court and sheriff's office sites, the state court record system, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and the other site's privacy policy then applies. Read it before you hand over personal details.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites in order to target ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A few narrow categories of information can still reach other hands:
- Search partners that handle the queries you run
- Analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on the pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices for the information we hold. No system wired to the internet is bulletproof, and we cannot promise a breach will never happen. We do what we can to keep your information safe and we correct problems when we find them.
Users Under 18
This site is built for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota's Government Data Practices Act, Minn. Stat. 13.03, governs how public agencies in this state handle the data they keep. It binds those agencies, not a private site like this one. Even so, we will act on a reasonable request about your own information. At a minimum you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Have information that is wrong corrected
- Ask us to erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy can change. When it does, the new version goes up on this page with a fresh effective date. Come back if you want to track how your information is handled.
